Eco TV flat screens grow in popularity

This year has seen a significant eco friendly growth in the LCD and Plasma flat screen TV market, driven mainly by the major manufacturers. The drive has been sparked by the amount of energy that a flat screen television uses to operate under normal switched on conditions, and it is now viewed by today’s more eco-conscious manufacturers as an important factor to try and reduce the power used by the screens, making both a saving to the environment and to the actual consumers running costs.

The new features to help provide this saving include motion detectors that automatically power off the TV should no one be in the room, greatly improved methods for back-lighting the TV screen, however the most dramatic savings have arrived through the manufacturers being able to reduce the amount of heat that the television emits and this occurs by reducing the overall power consumption that is required to run the TV, and the manufacturers state that you will not be able to notice the difference in temperature by touching both the front and back on the set itself.

The newly badged “Eco TVs” still however have a long way to go in ensuring that the electrical components used to provide the internal circuitry are kinder to the globe, but this is still seen as a great step towards a more environmentally friendly TV, especially when you consider the amount that are in use around our planet today.
