Hybrid Cars: What’s Great About Them and What’s Not

Are you curios why throngs of people seem to prefer getting a hybrid car instead of a conventional car despite the fact that hybrids are so much pricier?

The answer – the pros of owning a hybrid far outweigh the cons. With a hybrid car, you can cut fuel consumption in halfin comparison to their conventional car owning peers. This is because hybrid cars run on two engines. The first engine is still an internal combustion engine but the second engine is actually made up of an electric motor with its own batteries. Hybrid cars are basically cars that combine electric energy and gasoline energy. This balance of energy sources also makes it is less noisy, it’s cleaner and works more efficiently than cars with just a combustion type engine. These are the reason hybrid cars are in such high demand right now.

Another great thing about hybrid ownership are the new tax incentives being given to hybrid car users and buyers.

To be sure, not everything about owning a hybrid car is positive. Chief among them is that arguably the best feature of a hybrid car, it’s electrical motor, is considered by many to be one of its largest detractions. When it stops working properly, it costs thousands more to repair, much less to replace. There is also a higher risk for electric shock facing any first responder attempting to free you from a crash, due to the large amount of voltage associated with an electric engine.

Another disadvantages of hybrid cars is the higher than average price tag when compared to similar cars in its class. Still, the hybrid car still wins out in that it saves its owners money over the life of the car. Compute how much gasoline each will guzzle over the course of its life and then add this cost to the full cost of your car. You will probably see that the hybrid become comparable in cost if not more of a deal using this calculation.
