Organic Clothing

Organic clothing, why not help the environment and look great at the same time, surely the personal feel good factor is doubled this way?

Organic clothing manufactures are growing fast and the price of these greener eco friendly materials are dropping too, which is good news for us and the planet.

What organic clothing materials are available today?

Organic Cotton

Cotton that is grown organically helps to protect and preserve our planet and the people that live on it.

The problem with non-organic cotton is that Globally it is one of the most intensively farmed crops and is roughly responsible for one quarter of the worlds pesticide use, creating a significant effect on the environment.

Jute (or Hessian as it is also known)

Jute is now the world’s second largest fibre crop after cotton. It’s use has escalated in recent years as it is a highly productive, durable and versatile plant with good environmentally friendly properties. Jute is fully recyclable, 100% biodegradable and possible to grow organically with relative ease. Its fibres are high in strength and durable, lending itself to organic clothing including jackets, footwear, luggage and bags.

What other clothing materials are good for the environment?

Recycled

Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials, reduces the consumption of raw materials and reduces energy usage, and hence greenhouse gas emissions.

Recycled clothing can either be bought as re-designed product, bought straight from a second hand shop or can be bought new as a fully recycled item. All three ways are kinder to the environment and can more often than not save you money.
